Steve Jobs dies at 56

FORMER CEO and Co-Founder of Apple Steve Jobs died after struggling with his health for the last several years.

Apple officials said in a statement on Wednesday, 5 October 2011: “We are deeply saddened to announce that Steve Jobs passed away today.”

In January 2011, Jobs took an indefinite medical leave but was able to return on stage to present iPad2, iCloud and the iOS5. He stepped down as the CEO in August 2011, writing to employees: “I have always said if there ever came a day when I could no longer meet my duties and expectations as Apple’s CEO, I would be the first to let you know. Unfortunately, that day has come.”

Jobs passed away a day after Apple announced iPhone 4S.
