JANUARY 25, 2011 – Filipinos were shocked by a bus explosion along major road EDSA near Buendia-MRT station. North-bound lane was closed as the investigation commenced.
On a press conference held at the Malacanang palace around 5pm, President Noynoy Aquino confirmed early reports that explosion was due to a C-4 bomb.
Police, however, claimed on later reports that it was due to IED (Improvized Explosive Device).
The bomb was placed along the 6th row from front. Bus driver strongly expressed disbelief on initial reports claiming mechanical problem, “Hindi pwedeng mechanical problem dahil ang makina ng bus ay nasa likod. Kitang kita nyo naman na butas ang gitna [This is not mechanical problem because the motor is in the bus rear. The hole in the middle part is apparent].”
